UFC 195 Preview

The UFC has released two fights for us via YouTube to get us hyped for the upcoming UFC 195 showdown in Las Vegas.  The main event features a showdown between two fan favorite fighters.  Carlos Condit challenges Robbie Lawler for his UFC Welterweight Championship on January 2, 2016.

The challenger, Carlos Condit, is not a stranger to championship gold, as he is a former Interim UFC Welterweight Champion and former WEC Welterweight Champion.  Condit defended his WEC title in three battles before jumping over to the UFC to face greater competition.  He would eventually work his way to an interim title shot and eventual clash with then champion, Georges St. Pierre.

Robbie Lawler is a UFC veteran that most early fans of the sport remember for his wild, yet effective striking and knockout power from the early years of the UFC.  Lawler would eventually part ways with the UFC in 2004.  He would go on to fight for Elite XC as well as Strikeforce (at 185lbs) before returning to the UFC in 2013.  Lawler got a chance to fight for the vacant UFC Welterweight title in 2014 against Johnny Hendricks after Georges St. Pierre stepped away from competition.  Lawler would lose the bout to Hendricks, but eventually get a rematch with Hendricks and earn the victory the second time around.

Both men have evolved tremendously over the years, but one could argue that Lawler has had the greatest evolution in MMA that we have ever seen.  Both men are warriors and don't back down from a fight.  Both men a well rounded and possess the ability to finish a fight.  MMA fans, we are in for a treat!  Not to mention - Andre Arlovski vs. Stipe Miocic.  Enjoy the fights!

Sonnen/W. Silva to Be Paired With Weidman/Belfort

UFC President, Dana White, has expressed an interest in having the Light Heavyweight bout between Wanderlei Silva and Chael Sonnen be placed on the same card as the UFC Middleweight Championship fight between Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort.  The date is not final for that bout, but the fight is scheduled to occur in Las Vegas sometime in May or Fourth of July weekend.  Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva have been exchanging words with each other for the last year or so and they will finally get to back up all of their talk in the cage.  The two men have already come to blows while filming TUF Brazil 3.

Fertitta: Weidman/Belfort Maybe in May or June

The UFC's co-owner Lorenzo Fertitto has stated that the UFC is targeted for May or July as long as Weidman is able to compete.  After Weidman's TKO victory over Anderson Silva, it was announced tha Vitoe belfort would be the next in line for the title. During a post-fight interview, Weidman expressed some concerns with his knee that he wanted to get looked into.

The UFC believes that the best location for this bout will be Las vegas Nevada. There is no official date or venue for the future UFC Middleweight title fight. Be sure to stay posted to our site to get the official date and time as soon as it is available.

UFC 170: Evans vs. Cormier in February

In late November, former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans hinted to the public that he may possibly be facing Daniel Cormier in Cormier's 205 lb debut.  It has now been officially announced that the two of them will be facing each other at UFC 170 on February 22 in Las Vegas.  I feel that this will be a tough test for Cormier as a first fight in a new weight class.  Cormier is an Olympic level wrestler with good striking who has remained undefeated in all of his 13 pro MMA bouts.  So far Cormier has defeated two former UFC champions (Josh Barnett and Frank Mir) and if he were to defeat Evans, he would make it three champions defeated.  This is a very important fight for Evans, who is getting back to his usual winning ways after a split decision win over Dan Henderson and a first round TKO victory over Chael Sonnen in November.  If he were to win this fight followed by another fight I think we could see him challenge for the title again by late 2014 or early 2015.

Also added to the card is a Welterweight fight between two of the top contenders in the UFC Welterweight Division who both are coming off of losses in their last bouts.  Brazilian Jiu Jitsu specialist and former title challenger at 185 lbs, Demian Maia, will suare off with GSP's training partner Rory MacDonald.  Rory MacDonald is coming off of a decision loss to Robbie Lawler who easily out-scored him in there bout at the UFC 20th Anniversary event, UFC 167.  Rory was very reserved in that fight and lacked aggression after promising to entertain in that fight.  Demian recently lost to high-level grappler Jake Shields in their main event fight at UFC Fight Night 29.

Plus a bout between Rafael dos Anjos and Rustam Khabilov in the UFC's Lightweight clash between two exciting fighters.

UFC 167 Keeps Getting Better

UFC 167 is already one the most stacked cards in UFC history, but has been announced that two of the UFC's most entertaining middleweights will will be squaring off in the octogon.

Rafael Natal and Ed Herman will be going to war on the UFC 167 card in Las Vegas for the UFC's 20th anniversary card. Rafael Natal is coming off a spectacular Fight of the Night performance against Tor Troeng at UFC Fight Night 28. Rafael Natal won his hard-fought battle with the Swedish TUF 18 alumni via decision.

Ed Herman is also coming off of a Fight of Night victory in his last bout against Trvor Smith back in July at UFC on FOX.

This will be an excellent fight bewtween two entertainers. I give the edge to Rafael Natal in this bout.

UFC 167 Co-Main Event added--Sonnen vs. Evans.

It has been made official that the UFC and Dana White have put together Top Ten competitor in the Middleweight and Light Heavyweight Contender, Chael Sonnen and Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Rashad Evans in as the Co-Main Event at UFC 167.  This fight has been rumored and talked about for a little while and now it officially joins the UFC's 20th Anniversary Show in Vegas.

Both men are amazing wrestlers who can use their wrestling as an offensive attack as well as takedown defense.  It will be interesting to see who will get the better of the wrestling if this match becomes a grappling war.  I believe that Rashad Evans has the better striking between the two of the fighters. One thing that Chael has that could be a major factor in this fight is the ability to pressure his opponents during fights.  It's too soon to try and even guess who will be the winner of this bout, but it has the potential to be an awesome fight.

This fight joins UFC 167 which is being headlined by Georges St. Pierre defending his title against top contender Johnny Hendricks.  Fights also on the card are Robbie Lawlor vs. Rory MacDonald and Tyron Woodley vs. Josh Koscheck.  This is shaping up to be yet another stacked card for the UFC.  Let's pray that injuries do not ruin this amazing card.
