Jake Ellenberger and Tarec Saffiedine in Singapore
The UFC has announced that Jake Ellenberger and the last Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Tarec Saffiedine will be going to battle in Singapore as the headlining bout for the Asian card.
This will be Jake Ellenberger's first fight since his boring decision loss to Rory MacDonald in July of this year. This will be Tarec Saffiedine's first fight in the UFC. Saffiedine defeated Nate Marquardt in January to become the last Strikeforce Welterweight Champion has yet to fight since then due to injuries.
This match has the potential to be a barn burner if both men go out and perform how they have in the past. It is an important match for both of the men who both need a win for different reasons. Jake Ellenberger needs to make up for his poor performance against MacDonald in order to stay in the mix at 170 lbs. Saffiedine needs to win in order to get in the mix at 170 lbs. Though Saffiedine was the last Strikeforce champion, he still needs to make a case in the UFC by defeating Ellenberger and extending his current 4-fight win streak.
